John 15

John 15 continues with Jesus' discourse with His disciples as He conveyed precious truths to them that would not really be understood under after Jesus' death.

1. I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
2. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
3. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
4. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

(Verses 1-4 of the 15th Chapter of JohnKing James Version)

Bible Studies from John 15

I Am the Vine - verses 1-4

I Am the Vine! Jesus told His disciples in this chapter that He was the true vine. "Abide in me, and I  in you." What did that mean? How did that affect the disciples, and how does that affect us today?

Abide in Christ - verses 5-8

Abide in Christ. The upper room discourse continues with Jesus pronouncement, "I am the Vine." Just what did that mean for the disciples, and what does that mean for us as believers today?

As the Father - verse 9

As the Father has loved us, so has Christ loved us. Continue in my love. What a profound truth--one which we cannot even begin to fathom its depths.

Friendship - verses 10-15

Have you ever thought, "I do not know what I would do without my friendships?" I am sure we all have had similar thoughts at sometime in our lives.

Chosen by God - verses 16-19

Jesus reminded His disciples that they were chosen by God. It is truly humbling to realize that nothing we could ever do could make us worthy of the love of Christ! Not only are we chosen, but we are chosen with a God-given purpose!

Hated without Cause - verses 20-25

We most certainly do not want to be hated without cause, and yet, that is exactly what happened to Jesus! Look at the things we do just to be liked. Yet, everything happened just as it did according to God's perfect plans!

Coming Comforter - verses 26-27

The coming Comforter would be sent at the departure of Jesus. Truly, the disciples could not begin to comprehend the meaning of Jesus' words.
