Bible Study Ruth

Bible Study Ruth. Perhaps one of the most loved of all books in the Bible, Ruth has many lessons for us to learn. Just as Christ is our Kinsman Redeemer, so the Boaz performs that role for the daughter-in-law of Naomi.

"But Ruth said: 'Entreat me not to leave you, or to turn back from following after you; for wherever you go, I will go; and wherever you lodge, I will lodge; your people shall be my people, and your God my God." (Ruth 1:16, NKJV)

"And now, my daughter, do not fear. I will do for you all that you request, for all the people of my town know that you are a virtuous woman." (Ruth 3:11, NKJV)

Bible Study Ruth

First, and most important of all, we must see how the book of Ruth shows Christ. Boaz, the kinsman-redeemer, is a type of Christ, our great Kinsman-Redeemer, who has bought us with His blood. So even in this Old Testament book, we are already introduced to Christ.

There are two key verses to the book, which we will study in greater detail when we get to them in our Bible study: Ruth 1:16 and Ruth 3:11

Verse 4 could be considered the key chapter of the book, for in it Ruth's life changes from widowhood and poverty to marriage and great riches. In the same way, our relationship to Christ moves us from total depravity and eternal death into a relationship of joy, peace, and eternal joy. Christ, who redeems us, changes our very souls so that though once lost, now we are found. Once we faced a state of eternal damnation, but now we face a state of eternal hope and joy in Christ.

Even though our external life may seem no different, in Christ, everything changes.

As we go through this book (which is a true story, by the way), may we find our relationship to Christ growing as we see the way in which God wondrously intervened in the life of Ruth and so wondrously intervenes in our lives as well.

God Bless You,

Linda
