Blessed are the Peacemakers

Jesus said, "Blessed are the peacemakers." Think of it; here we are in the 21st century, and what is the most notable "hot spot" in the world today, where peace seems all but impossible? The Mid East!

 9   Blessed are the peacemakers,
For they shall be called sons of God.
      Matthew 5:9, NKJV

Blessed are the Peacemakers

Sitting at the very feet of Jesus, on the mountainside that today is embroiled in controversy, we have to seriously consider the Words of Christ. What does it take to be a true peacemaker? Will peace ever come to this earth? Yes!

The difficulty today is that those who are involved with international peace talks do not understand the words of Matthew 5:9. True peace without Christ is not possible--not internationally and not personally! The day will come when Christ will return to this earth, and then, and only then, will this world know true peace. But what about personal peace?

Personal peace is only possible through Christ! Not only is it only possible through Christ, but it comes as a gift from God, totally removed from our circumstances of life. Even if one's life is filled with controversy, anxiety, or even constant troubles, the peace of God can and will rule in the heart of the true believer. Why?

When the true believer understands the true nature of God, peace reigns in his or her heart. God is sovereign over all the earth. Though we may not understand why circumstances may occur, we know that our loving God is guiding and directing this world. Not one thing will come to pass that He has not allowed, and not one thing that He has ordained will remain undone. That is the God we love and serve!

So, why do babies die? Why does harm come our way? Those are questions that the world continually throws at the believer. How many people refuse to come to God because they do not understand why a loving God allows bad things to happen to good people. Unfortunately, they are blaming the wrong being! It is not God who brought sin into this world, it is Satan. All of the bad things we see are results of sin entering this world. Even nature is affected by sin.

Paul addressed this very topic in Romans 8:

18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. 19 For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; 21 because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. 23 Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.

Romans 8:18-23, NKJV

Only God's true children can understand these things. Like nature, we groan within ourselves while we wait for God's eternal deliverance!

Only God's true children are the peacemakers! Go, then, in the peace of God and live this life to His honor and glory alone!

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God.
