The Lord Give You Peace
Numbers 6

The Lord Give You Peace, Numbers 6. Where would we be without God's love and faithfulness showered upon us? We could not live one day of our Christian life without His aid.

The Lord bless thee, and keep thee: The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
Numbers 6:24-26, KJV

The Lord Give You Peace
Numbers 6

This benediction from Numbers 6 is perhaps my favorite benediction. Where would we be without God's love and faithfulness showered upon us? We could not live one day of our Christian life without His aid.

Who brings the sun and the rain? Who calms the angry storm? Who blesses His people with gifts from above? Who brings us good in world which is filled with great evil? The questions could go on and on, could they not?

I could not bring a greater blessing upon you than the one shown above! Any blessings we receive are from the Lord. He, alone, saves us and keeps us, and when He shines His face upon us, everything around us is bathed in His glorious light. He graces us with a salvation we do not deserve, and a good life that would not be possible without Him.

Yes, we do want the Lord to lift up His countenance upon us, because only through Him can there be peace! We do, so, want world peace, but it will never happen apart from God! Nations do not understand this, and they do not realize that there never will be a time when man can bring peace on earth through his own power or will.

David said in Psalm 37:25,

I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

David understood that everything he had was a gift from God. God, in His faithful provision to David, never forsook David or even his children after Him.

As believers today in this the 21st century, let us find all of our peace, happiness, and joy in the Lord Jesus Christ. Let us not, like the people of this world, seek for such things in the world around us. Only in Christ will we experience the peace that passes understanding.

With all that in mind, I again give to you our benediction for today:

The Lord bless thee, and keep thee: The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
