Romans Doxology
Romans 16

Romans Doxology. After a lengthy treatise to the church at Rome, the author, Paul, concludes with final directives to his friends at Rome. Then, he ends the chapter with this doxology from Romans 16, giving all of the praise to God.

25 Now to him who is able to establish you by my gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, 26 but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all nations might believe and obey him— 27 to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen.
Romans 16:25-27, NIV

Romans Doxology
Romans 16

Several doxologies are found in the New Testament, such as Romans 6:27.

27 To the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen.

After a lengthy treatise to the church at Rome, the author, Paul, concludes with final directives to his friends at Rome. Then, he ends the chapter with this doxology from  Romans 16, giving all of the praise to God.

I like to think of verses 25 - 27 as an extended version of the doxology. In a sense, Paul is saying, "You should listen to what I have written because God, alone, is able to establish you through the Lord Jesus Christ."

Sometimes we take the Gospel a little too lightly, because if we have been raised in the church, it is certainly not new news to us. We must remember, however, that everything proclaimed by Paul in the book of Romans was shocking, not only to the Jews, but also to the Gentiles of that time. Though this mystery had been hidden for centuries, God chose that time period to reveal the mystery of Christ to the entire world.

Paul makes sure, in the Romans doxology that we understand that everything he did, and everything he wrote in this book to the church at Rome, was written for the glory of God through the Lord Jesus Christ.

How do we apply this to our own life in this the twenty-first century? Think a moment of how carefully we would order our lives: our thoughts, motives, words, and actions, if we would consciously live every moment as to God and for His glory alone, through the Lord Jesus Christ. That is what we should do, is it not?

I challenge you this day, pray that God would be gracious to you and help you order every thought, motive, word, and action for the glory of God, who through the Lord Jesus Christ gave you access to God Almighty.

How amazing is that? We have access to God, the Creator of the Universe, 24/7. The Lord Jesus Christ, right now, is sitting at the right hand of God making intercession for us. Millions and millions of people live in this world, and God knows each and every one of them. He knows their thoughts, and He knows their hearts.

Let us pray that God would graciously help us to live for Him every moment of the day and love Him in our heart of hearts!

27 To the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen.
