God Helps You
1 Chronicles 12

God Helps You, 1 Chronicles 12. Did you know that, as a Christian, you are an open book to all who are around you? Your family, friends, and co-workers see the blessing of God upon you, especially if you are careful to acknowledge God as the source of your blessings.

Peace, peace be unto thee, and peace be to thine helpers; for thy God helpeth thee.
1 Chronicles 12:18b, King James Version

God Helps You
1 Chronicles 12

1 Chronicles 11 and 12 are recounting the great men of David's army. In today's passage, David is in the hold at Ziklag hiding from the army of Saul.

16 And there came of the children of Benjamin and Judah to the hold unto David.

17 And David went out to meet them, and answered and said unto them, If ye be come peaceably unto me to help me, mine heart shall be knit unto you: but if ye be come to betray me to mine enemies, seeing there is no wrong in mine hands, the God of our fathers look thereon, and rebuke it.

18 Then the spirit came upon Amasai, who was chief of the captains, and he said, Thine are we, David, and on thy side, thou son of Jesse: peace, peace be unto thee, and peace be to thine helpers; for thy God helpeth thee
.

These men had a choice to make; they could join the army of Saul or the army of David. What was the final factor in their decision making? Just four simple words: for your God helps you. They understood that only through the help of God would they, themselves, receive peace. It was obvious that God was no longer helping King Saul, so, if remaining in God's favor was important to them, then going to David was an obvious conclusion.

Just think about that for a moment. Did you know that, as a Christian, you are an open book to all who are around you? Your family, friends, and co-workers see the blessing of God upon you, especially if you are careful to acknowledge God as the source of your blessings. They also see how you respond when troubles come upon you. Where is your God now?

I used to think that I would never be an effective witness for Christ because I was not comfortable going door-to-door, or even handing out pamphlet's in a mall. I have learned, however, that God makes each of us different. For those who are comfortable going up to strangers and declaring the Gospel of Christ, bravo!

That does not excuse the rest of us. The simple answer is this. God has made you just as you are to fulfill the plans He has for you in this life. Live for Christ; pray for grace to be faithful to Him every moment of every day. Your witness will stand out; others will see that God helps you. As the song says, Brighten the corner where you are!

Peace, peace be unto thee, and peace be to thine helpers; for thy God helpeth thee.
