Fulfill My Joy
Philippians 2

Fulfill My Joy, Philippians 2. Christ, the Holy Son of God, did not think of His high estate and superiority over man, but rather came to this earth as a poor, lowly, carpenter.

2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

Fulfill My Joy
Philippians 2

What an  interesting benediction. In verses 2 through 4, Paul gives practical examples of living the Christian life which will be a means of his command to fulfill his joy. Then, look at verse 5: Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Notice, it ends with a colon. In other words he is going to give an example of what it means to have the mind of Christ.

He already has given us hints in verses 2 through 4.

* Be like minded, have the same love, be of one accord, be of one mind.
* Do not handle things by arguing, but rather view the other person as better than yourself.
* Do not be jealous of what another person has, but be content with the things you have.

Now, let us look at his example of having the mind of Christ.

Christ, the Holy Son of God, did not think of His high estate and superiority over man, but rather came to this earth as a poor, lowly, carpenter. The family was so poor, he was not even born in a house as most others were of that day. There were no rooms available; he was born in a cow's stall! He came to this earth as a servant of man with the full intention of being obedient to God the Father by dying on the cross to save a people for himself.

Does that humility describe us? Does it describe the average person in our culture today? Just the opposite is true! A person of true humility is rare indeed, and is thought by the world to be weak.

When you think of it, this is really a wonderful benediction. Paul is encouraging the Philippians, and us as well, to live as Christ lived. He knows that the only peace and joy we will truly experience in life will be related to a close walk with the Lord. Everything else is meaningless!

I encourage you, this day, as Paul said, "Fulfill my joy." Seek the Lord while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near.
