What images come to mind when you read the title, "Christian Business Advice"? What is the difference between Christian Business Advice versus just plain business advice? Why does it matter? These are important questions to answer; it does not take long when surfing the net to realize that there are tons of "opportunities" that seem too good to be true. How can I tell a credible opportunity from a scam?

Before we get to the specifics, I would like to ask you a question. What is your goal? Did you know that the first priority in building a business is making sure your heart is totally submitted and dedicated to the Lord? After all, who is really building this business, you or the Lord?

Go to God first; pray for wisdom and guidance, and pray that His name would be glorified in everything you do. Without Christ, you will not succeed!







What is the next question to ask?

Next, ask yourself, "Where can I get good Christian business ideas that really work?"

I have had several opportunities in the past few years to check out certain opportunities, which I would like to share with you. These include the bad choices as well as the great choices.

But, wait a minute, what makes me such an authority on this subject? I do not have a fancy degree or a ton of business experience, so how could I ever recognize a good opportunity when it does come along?

My Story

Let me tell you my story!

I had this "wonderful" job in a factory; they allowed me to work 10 to 11 hours a day, sometimes five to six days a week, doing back-breaking work, until after seven years my body had broken down to the point I could no longer do my job. (Did I mention, that I was 50 years old when I started that job?)

Now, we were in trouble! We had foolishly bought a home which required the combined income of my husband (who also works at that same factory) and I. I loved computers, and I was an avid user of the internet, so it seemed to be the time to turn to the countless opportunities to make it big on the net.

Armed with $20,000 (from my previous 401K) I was ready to turn that money into good use!

A Side Comment

The more money you start with, the more money you can lose! I recommend starting with a small investment and letting that money work for you; it really does not take much money to start a successful internet business!

Wow! The opportunities were endless, but I soon latched on to a "there is no way you can fail" opportunity. That was just the one for me, after all, I had no experience so why not just pay someone else to do the leg work?

The Bad!

It was called, "The Cash Flow Path" or otherwise known as "Traffic Design." They operate under countless other names as well!

So, how can you recognize scams such as these?

If anyone offers to build you a web site and then send tons of traffic to that site for the cost of thousands of dollars, run in the other direction as fast as you can!

There was no training involved because there was nothing required except sending in more money for frequent "more amazing opportunities." I was treated royally! Anytime a new opportunity came along, I was given the first chance!

I knew they were a good company because they were so friendly; I was easily on a "first-name" basis with several members of their staff. Nice people will never cheat you, will they?

I lost all of my money that first year!

They sure saw me coming, didn't they? You guessed it; I lost all of my money that first year!

Now, that was the best thing that ever happened to me!

How can I say that?

Losing my money forced me to check every new opportunity more carefully, and I was limited to only opportunities which were "cheap." I was determined to keep going; you only lose when you quit trying. (Isn't that what everyone says?)

Guess what? They are right.

Better choice, but I still don't recommend it!

I decided that the real problem was that I needed to find a way to get traffic myself without spending an arm and a leg. So, I came upon Veretekk; this is not a bad company--they actually do what they say, however they have a huge learning curve. If you already have an established, successful business, they can be a real help.

So, what is the problem?

The problem is that they put the cart before the horse! They make the mistake of thinking that the more ads you put out there, the more traffic you will get. To some extent that is true, but what kind of traffic do you get? Are they really interested in what you have to offer? And, if you go for Veretekk's "gold" membership, it will cost you close to $50.00 a month. (That is $600 a year!)

I didn't have $600 a year.

Then, I entered the period of trying several companies--they offered free training and free web-sites, and the membership cost was very low.

I still didn't get it! Neither did I make any money!

How many times do you click into all of those annoying emails offering you great business ideas? They all go in my spam file! Stay away from anything that suggests sending emails--it is the easiest way to get nabbed for spamming!

The Good!

One day, I stumbled upon a company called Site Build It! I don't even remember how I chanced upon it. Well, as Christians, we know that nothing happens by chance.

They had tons of information--lots of links to check out, so I began to read, and to read, and to read, and to read. The more I read, the more I recognized that this was different than anything I had checked out before.

First of all, they did not promise that I would get rich quick; in fact, they said the opposite. Building a web site is hard work.

But, what really convinced me . . .

. . . was their philosophy of putting up a web site! They explained that the internet is all about information. You can successfully build a site with good content, which will cause people to come looking for you, and, when you pre-sell them with your good content, they will be ready to purchase from you or follow through with whatever monetization model you are using.

OK -- sounds good so far, but remember, I am a novice.

How in the world am I going to be able to put up a web site by myself?

Now we are getting to the really good stuff! All of the training is FREE! I am a "do it yourself" person; if I have the instructions, I can do it. And, best of all, you can get the training before you even decide whether or not this is for you.

I'll bet you want to know the cost? That is the best part--the cost of an SBI web site is only $299 a year! This is very similar to the cost for a Yahoo business web site -- but, SBI gives you more than a web site -- they provide free training and tons of resources to use on your site. Well - anyway, back to my story.

I followed their step-by-step guides and -- well, you know the results or you would not be here! What do you think?

What if I don't have the time or desire to build my own web site?

You know, I am saving the best until last! Here I go with my stumbling again--I stumbled, by the hand of God, upon two remarkable opportunities that are by Christians and for Christians. They are both easy and inexpensive, and can be both be done at the same time with no conflict between the one and the other. I recommend doing them both!

The Best!

I hardly know where to begin because both of these are such great opportunities.

How about if we start with Christian Success Institute? This whole page is about building a successful Christian internet business, so this is the logical place to go.

Whoa! This got my attention; after all, what is my web site about, anyway? Two things really appealed to me, well, actually three things.

First, Christians I trust (it did not take me long to get Rev. Bobby Keating on the phone), were writing articles about successfully doing what I am already doing. Who cannot use more ideas for success?

Second, this site is saturated with excellent Bible training and free eBooks. (I am always a sucker for anything free.) Of course, the first thing I did was download the free eBooks and read them. Wow! This is really good stuff! There is a wonderful free section (it also includes free daily devotions written by me) and for those who want more, there is a sections of tons of great articles and advice (which is growing every day) for a small monthly tuition.

Third, CSI offers a way for Christians to cover the tuition ($14.95 a month) and then begin to earn their own residual income.

I would really like to honestly give you the cons, but so far I have not found any!

I can hardly wait to tell you about Scriptures.

Scriptures combines everything I love in a Christian business and leaves out everything I hate in network marketing!

This is my latest journey in online marketing, and it may be better than all of the others -- well, maybe not. Guess where I found Scriptures?

It was one of the business opportunities mentioned on Christian Success Institute's "Business Opportunities" section. If it was not run by a Christian I respected (yup, I called my sponsor), I would have thought it was too good to be true.

First, every product that Scriptures sells has a Bible verse printed on the container. As a matter of fact, the shampoo products have the entire plan of salvation printed on the bottles. They combine first rate products (Bible study tapes, books, and cd's, natural health products, weight loss products, and body care products) with the Bible printed on each and every product they sell.

I believe strongly that we Christians need to live every moment of each day for the honor and glory of the Lord, and should look for opportunities to share the Bible with others. I could not believe that I could buy products that did just that! You know what kind of presents I will be getting for my family and friends, don't you?

But, oh, oh, here comes the drawback, I hate selling! I do not do cold calling; if I hate telephone sales, I am certainly not going to do it myself. Also, I do not want to "obligate" all of my family and friends to "sign up under me."

Guess what? There is an easier way to sell Scripture's products and to get people to sign up under you that does cost a little money, but is otherwise completely painless!

What a brilliant idea! This is totally optional, but perfect for me. Scriptures allows you to join advertising co-ops that are run by a professional advertising company. Ads are placed in Christian magazines and on Christian web sites all over the web. The cheapest co-op (you know that that is the one I would go for) is a little under $50.00 a month.

For that $50.00 I will gain approximately 12 to 15 new people under me every three months. These are people who have read the ads and probably looked over the web site, and have already made the decision to sign on.

Talk about easy!

I may not like cold calling, but I have no problem calling people who are already signed up under me, and are already making me money.

I'll bet you can already guess my future plans, when the income comes in, I will move up to the next two advertising co-op levels. The higher the level, the more new people will be placed into my downline.
