A Bible Devotion from Psalm 93
The Lord Reigns
1 The LORD reigns, He is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed, He has girded Himself with strength. Surely the world is established, so that it cannot be moved. 2 Your throne is established from of old; You are from everlasting. 3 The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves. 4 The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, than the mighty waves of the sea. 5 Your testimonies are very sure; holiness adorns Your house, O LORD, forever.
Psalm 93, NKJV
There is one constant in life of which we can be very sure and that is: The Lord reigns. He has reigned from eternity past and will continue to reign for eternity to come. He is the one who established this world, and without Him it cannot be moved.
Do to recent weather history we all know the power of the hurricane and the power of tsunamis, and yet the Lord is mightier than the noise of many waters, than the mighty waves of the sea.
That should give the saints of God a great sense of peace. In a time when the threat of terrorism and nuclear war is constantly upon us, we are reminded that man can do nothing to destroy this world that God has created. If indeed destruction of the world comes, it will come at the hand of God due to the great sin and wickedness of man.
What an amazing God we serve, and how wondrous and glorious that the true believer can rest safely in Him. We do not need to fear the terror by day or night, for at all times we are resting safely in His guidance and protection. Even when the days of adversity come, we know that God sends only what we need to grow us to become more and more like Him. And, He promises that when we go through the waters of adversity, He will go right along with us!
Pray today that you will go about your day in peace thinking about this Psalm and knowing that God reigns over everything; there is nothing that man can do against the everlasting power of God.
