Psalm 23
A Bible Devotion from Psalm 23 The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23
Psalm 23 is the most well known and beloved Psalm. The Lord is pictured as our Shepherd and we are his sheep. Take some time to learn about the true nature of sheep, and you will understand more about yourself.
Sheep are helpless without their shepherd. They continually get themselves in trouble. Did you know that if a sheep falls and ends up on his back with his feet in the air he cannot turn himself over? He will die that way unless someone comes and turns him over.
Christ is our faithful Shepherd who knows who His true sheep are and never neglects or abandons them. With the Psalmist we may say in confidence, Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
This is a great blessing given to all true believers.
Pray that today you will walk in peace and joy because your Shepherd is faithfully there to lead and guide you in the way you should go.
