A Bible Devotion from Psalm 119 Vs 73-80
Your Hands Have Made and Fashioned Me

Bible picture

73 Your hands have made and fashioned me;
give me understanding that I may learn your commandments.

74 Those who fear you shall see me and rejoice,
because I have hoped in your word.

75 I know, O Lord, that your rules are righteous,
and that in faithfulness you have afflicted me.

76 Let your steadfast love comfort me
according to your promise to your servant.

77 Let your mercy come to me, that I may live;
for your law is my delight.

78 Let the insolent be put to shame, because they have wronged me with falsehood;
as for me, I will meditate on your precepts.

79 Let those who fear you turn to me,
that they may know your testimonies.

80 May my heart be blameless in your statutes,
that I may not be put to shame!

Psalm 119 Vs 73-80

I really like Psalm 119 Vs 73-80 because it is incredibly personal. Your hands have made and fasioned me. Everything we are and can ever hope to be is designed by God. Each of us is unique; God designed each of us for a specific purpose.

Look how important it is for the Psalmist to understand this; it gives him the proper perspective towards those around him. He knows that other true believers will rejoice with him because he puts all of his hope in the Word of God. He also knows that those who are insolent and do not trust in the Lord have wronged him with falsehood. His reaction to this, however, is to ask God to turn those who have wronged him back to him so that he can share the testimonies of God's Word with them.

The Psalmist also finds great comfort in the Law of God because He finds the mercy of God when he reads the Bible. God uses the Law as a schoolmaster to direct him in the right way because true joy and peace only come from the Lord through His Word, the Bible.

Remember Psalm 119 Vs 73-80 and pray that your reaction to those around you, like this Psalmist, would be one of understanding that is filled with the desire to share God's Word with them.
